2. a rod with a pointed or electric tip, used to urge cattle or other animals to move; prod.

transitive verb
1. to stimulate or spur (someone) to act, esp. by annoying or irritating.
He was reluctant, but his mother goaded him into calling this woman for a date.
2. to prick, prod, or direct with or as with a goad.
The hogs were goaded into the pen.
