1. a medieval Nordic or Icelandic prose narrative, esp. one describing the historical or legendary exploits of a single person or family.
The saga told of the extraordinary travels and adventures of their ancestors.
2.  any long detailed narrative, esp. one chronicling the generations of a family or group; epic.
The saga, which covered three generations of an English family, was published in five volumes between 1906 and 1921.
