1. to play (a stringed instrument or a tune) by plucking, esp. idly or repetitiously.
As he spoke, he thrummed his guitar.
2. to drum the fingers on.
She sat thrumming the table and thinking.
intransitive verb
1. to pluck, or pluck a tune on, a stringed instrument.
She thrummed on a ukelele.
2. to drum with the fingers.
Impatient, he thrummed on the counter with his fingertips.
noun
a muffled, repetitious sound; thrumming.
When her neighbors play loud music, the thrum of the bass makes her head ache.
