An economy is the system of how money is made and used within a particular country or region. A region’s economy is connected with things like how many goods and services are produced, how many new businesses are being set up, and how much money people are spending.

example:
The economy of the U.S. was terribly weak in the 1930s. Many businesses were failing. Families had little money because people lost their jobs.
