Tradition is the handing down of a group’s beliefs and customs from older people to younger people over many years. Tradition is also a kind of force that makes people continue doing something in a particular way just because it has always been done that way before.

Example:

Brides usually wear white dresses at their wedding because of tradition.
Tradition has preserved many of the old customs and ways of doing things in this part of the country.
