transitive verb

1.to pay off or settle (a debt or the like).
With the sale of their business, they had enough money to liquidate their debts.

2. to terminate (a business) by selling all assets and distributing the proceeds to shareholders.
The owners were ready to retire, and they decided to liquidate their business.
