transitive verb

to bring to an end; put a stop to.
The social security office terminated his benefits.

intransitive verb

to come to an end, spatially or temporally (often fol. by “at,” “in,” or “with”).
The beach terminates at those cliffs.
The course will terminate in two weeks.
His employment will terminate at the end of this month.
