transitive verb

to mourn for or regret.
She lamented the loss of her youth.Do you ever lament your decision to quit your high-paying job?
He still laments that he did not complete his education.
We strongly lament that you were treated in this manner by one of our hotel staff.

intransitive verb

to feel or express regret or sorrow; grieve or complain.
The result of their decision was not what they hoped for, but they had no time to lament.
