transitive verb

1. to supply (a market) with much more of a particular article than there is demand for.
The market was glutted with videocassette recorders.

2. to fill with an excess, esp. of food.
He glutted himself at the holiday feast.

intransitive verb

to indulge in something, esp. food, to an excessive degree.

noun

1. a greater supply or amount than is needed.
There was a glut of rice that year in Japan, and prices fell.

an act of glutting, or the condition of being glutted.
