1. the state or fact of being a relative or relatives, especially by birth.
“Aunt,” uncle,” and “cousin” are some of the terms that describe kinship.
Most of the people living in this mountain region are connected by kinship.

2. the state or fact of sharing common ideas, values, characteristics, or the like; likeness; affinity.
There is an interesting kinship between these modern ideas and ones expressed by certain philosophers in the fifteenth century.
