bullying

I chose the word bullying because there is a lot of bullying going on in our school. Sometimes nothing gets done about it because some of the kids are scared to go to the teachers or the principal about it. Bullying is unwanted or aggressive actions between two or more kids. The behavior is repeated, or could be repeated, over time (stopbullying.gov). Kids who are bullied may suffer physical or mental harm. Some bullying happens over social media.

eventful

The word eventful stands out to me because it can mean bad, good and anything in between. The years will be moving along, and you can either stay with the pace or go at your own. What’s happens in your year is up to you and everyone around you. You have births of new family and sadly deaths, but you also have gathering of family, friends and others you haven’t even met. You will never know what’s coming so buckle up and hold on because no matter what thing are happening, and life is moving on.

humanity

It is the species responsible for climate change. It is the progenitor of war, oppression, bigotry, hatred, prejudice, and so on. It is the race endangered by its own actions and the group that impedes its own recovery for reasons of greed, pride, avarice, and any number of vices.
Ironically, as it is also defined, Humanity is synonymous with kindness, charity, and thoughtfulness, and any number of virtues. The widespread practice of these benevolent, humane qualities—pity, mercy, consideration—would heal the world.

Humanity can save Humanity.

fact

Meaning: a thing that is indisputably the case
Discussion: Technology and politics have impacted the idea of what is perceived as fact to the point of making the word practically useless. It is as if we need a new word that goes beyond just fact. Not even the term verified fact would suffice.

pain

This word can bring you into the saddest and happiest moments of your life. Pain can be grief or a great effort to get something done; it can cause you to feel hurt, irritated, or in distress. All people will see pain at least once in their lives, while others will be in pain for many years. Pain is not easy to overcome but pain is only temporary and is only one block in the way to life fulfillment. I think pain is something all people can relate to and know the feeling of what another is going through, that is why I feel it should be nominated for word of the year.

inequality

INEQUALITY – A major underlying cause of the American chaos. Could be:
– economic Inequality;
– social Inequality;
– racial Inequality;
– type of citizenship inequality;
– health Inequality;
– disability Inequality;
– and a few more.
Being affected by one or more of the above with little or no recognition / improvement is corrosive – and, seemingly, perpetual.

gradual

I found a book entitled “graduals” and thought it was a literary term. But the book was of musical phrases to be sung between parts of a church service. It was once chanted on the step of the ambo or altar, apparently rare now outside of monasteries. It might have repeated an hallelujah, or been a responsive chant between read verses of a psalm, it gives me the sense of a rocking the cradle or swaying way to engage in a service. A little of this and a little of that, gradually. Comforting.

struggling

Today, life is not as easy as we realize. Things have not gone well for most people throughout the years. I chose this word over that we deal with trouble against us during our early life and adult life. Like we get bullied by other kids. And when were adults, we deal with financial problems, and raising kids to. I feel that there is more than just struggle than anyone can have. This is what we deal with during our lifetime, and there’s nothing that we can do to reduce the amount of struggle that’s with you.

trepidation

I mean that sense that the future could be anything, that we are looking over a cliff into the abyss. I think it is a product of our turbulent economic transition from an industrial model (of employment, of education, of production) to a post-industrial model which is yet to be fully fleshed out. I feel Trepidation! (although, also excitement about what is to come).

trust

Trust is an interesting little thing. It is one of the strongest and the weakest things you may come across. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to build and upkeep trust, yet it can be so easily broken. Like a vase made of glass, even a small drop can turn it into pieces. It doesn’t stop there either, for after it is broken you have to work to rebuild it again, except it has lost a few pieces. Keep breaking it and you’ll eventually have nothing left.
