1. to burn with or as if with a hot liquid or steam.
She scalded her mouth on the hot tea.

2. to treat with, subject to, or cover with a boiling liquid.
We cleaned the dishes by scalding them.

3. to heat (a liquid) to a temperature just below the boiling point.

noun

1. a burn or other injury from a hot liquid or steam.

2. a plant condition that is caused by a fungus or improper exposure to sunlight or gases and results in discoloration of epidermal and surrounding tissues, esp. in fruits and vegetables.
