transitive verb

1. to give (one’s time or attention) to a purpose.
The volunteers devoted their time and energy to helping others.
He regretted that he had devoted so little time to his children when they were small.

2. to set apart for a special purpose.
I devote this space to my music collection.

3. to dedicate (oneself or one’s life) to something completely; give (all one’s attention, time, and effort) to something.
She devoted herself to the care of her husband during those last difficult years.
Nuns devote their lives to the service of God.
