1. the part or share of something that is to be distributed to, that maximally can be distributed to, or that habitually is consumed by, an individual or group.
During the war, each family received a monthly quota of meat.
No more wine, please; I’ve had my quota for this evening.

2. a quantity of something that is required or expected from an individual or group.
The company sets production quotas for each quarter of the year.

3. an assigned number or percentage of people or things that can or must be used or admitted.
Quotas were set in the 1920s that severely restricted the number of Asian immigrants to the U.S.
