1. a cat, especially an old female cat.

quotation: Nobody listened but Tomsina, who was an immense black cat, held in great reverence by the villagers, for she had the greenest eyes and the longest whiskers and the heaviest fur of any cat in the kingdom. Moreover, she had hundreds of mice to her credit and no birds, for she was a good and wise grimalkin.
