example: New York City and Madrid are located at the same latitude above the equator.

2. the geographic region located at a particular latitude.

example: These creatures are rarely seen at this latitude.

3. breadth or scope, as of freedom of action or opinion.

example: The principal gives the teachers great latitude in disciplining their students.
