definition 1:  spoken by the native or common people of a region or country.
example:  The vernacular form of the language differed a good deal from the officially recognized form.

definition 2: of, relating to, or spoken or written in the common, everyday language of a people or region.
example:  Vernacular poetry appealed to her young pupil more than the classical verses she’d tried to interest him in.

noun

definition:  the language spoken by the native or common people in a region or country, esp. as opposed to a literary or official language.
example:  The Renaissance saw the beginnings of the use of the vernacular in literary writings.
